A few reminders from Mr Whelan:

  • Please remember to send your child in with a water bottles every day.  The weather may eventually get warmer and the children need to stay hydrated!
  • Please listen to your child read at least 4 times a week and sign their diary.  It really does make a difference to their learning and they enjoy getting their Karate Reading certificates.
  • Please could all children continue to learn their times tables.  It has been something that many haven't revised over lockdown and again, knowing the multiplication and division facts is a vital aspect of maths.

Thank you.

Welcome to the summer term

Our Curriculum Project for the first half term is Traders and Raiders:

Big and strong, powerful and brave, the Saxons wave their battle axes and brandish their swords as they begin to invade Britain’s shores. We will sail back to the Dark Ages, where battles were rife and fear reigned. We will find out about the lives of the Saxons, including how they lived and where they came from. We will meet the bloodthirsty Vikings from Scandinavia – never before had such terror swept the land. We will make a Saxon sword or a Viking brooch and decorate it with intricate patterns. We will choose to be a Saxon or Viking and trade our crafty goods, but let’s keep it cool. We don’t want a fight breaking out. Are you ready to shine a light on the dangerous and deadly Dark Ages?

We will be developing our practical science skills this half term which will require the children planning, carrying out and record the results of a fair test for Forces and Magnets.

Our PE day is now Monday and as before, please could all children arrive at school wearing appropriate outdoor clothing.  Thank you.

In PSHE, we will be learning about Being Our Best: having choices and making decisions about our health, taking care of our environment and looking at our own skills and interests.  In RE this half term we will be learning about and discussing Gospel.
