We have had a roarsome first term back as Year 1’s!

We have been learning all about Dinosaurs. During the first weeks, children became palaeontologists for the day! We found lots of bones in our outside area and used special tools to carefully brush through the soil to unveil the dinosaur bones that lay beneath. We had lots of discussion about similarities and differences between bones and rocks and played a game called 'stones or bones'. We drew our observations and took pictures on iPads to document our findings. As authors, we have written fact files and are in the process of writing an exciting dinosaur story! As scientists we have looked at dinosaur teeth and worked out what a dinosaur would have eaten based on its teeth. We have also been investigating the different groups that animals belong to.  The children are exploring the idea of extinction and how important it is to look after the endangered animals on our planet.

Next Half Term, we are pleased to announce that in line with current social distancing measures, we will be launching ourselves into space.  Over the course of the term, we will be exploring the story of BEEGU and learning all about our solar system.  We look forward to investigating an alien crash site, producing our findings in a newspaper and TV report.  Watch this space (no pun intended) for more exciting updates.

PE is on a Thursday so please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on that day.
