The Department for Education guidance for the full reopening of schools in September 2020 has just been published and we are now busily working through every detail so we can formulate a safe, comprehensive and of course, fully compliant plan of action. We cannot wait to see ALL your smiling faces again and we will provide details for the start of the academic year just as soon as we can. Please bear with us just a little longer! Thank you as ever for your patience and support.

PE & Sport Premium

The Government has again committed to renewing its package of funding for physical education (PE) and school sport. Through this ‘Sport Premium’ the Government is continuing to provide £150 million in additional funding to support the delivery of PE and Sport in primary schools.

This funding will be ring-fenced and will be allocated directly to primary schools across England, providing them with a dedicated resource to buy in invaluable expertise and support. Funding will be allocated through a lump sum for each school and a per-pupil top-up mechanism. The formula will reference the number of primary-aged pupils (i.e. children between the ages of 5 and 11).

At Bude Primary Academy, we have long recognised the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our pupils. We also acknowledge that a board, balanced, high-quality curriculum with extra-curricular activities has a positive impact on concentration, attitude and achievement.

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils receive a minimum of 2 hours PE per week, delivered by well-trained and enthusiastic staff. The introduction of an Academy Sports Coach enriches this provision across the federation and also upskills the existing staffing. This promotes teamwork, imagination, personal health and fitness with fun. Pupils of all abilities develop their skills, achieve their potential and have an opportunity to shine.

Impact of Sports Premium:

  • The promotion of positive attitudes towards active and healthy lifestyles.
  • Engage pupils in sports as a means to increase educational engagement and attainment through before during and after school provision.
  • Enable all children and young people, whatever their circumstances or ability, to take part, enjoy and progress in and through PE and Sport.
  • To encourage all pupils to work and play collaboratively with others in and through a broad range of activities and group situations that develop Agility, Balance and Coordination.
