WELCOME TO DUCKPOOL CLASS!
We have been so impressed with the positive attitude and resilience the children are showing when starting in their new school over the past few weeks. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching them and watching the way in which they are settling into the school routine, all with smiles on their faces.
During this half term, we are focusing on building the children's confidence and helping them to feel safe and happy at school.  We have been looking at the school's rules - be ready, be respectful and be happy. We are also looking at qualities that make us successful learners, such as resilience and independence.
Our topic is "Mighty Metals". The children will become engineers, scientists, makers of men (iron men, of course). They will explore the scientific world of forces and magnetism, metals and materials. They will expand their minds as they test and trial, build and move. They will investigate which force is at play as someone slides down a slide or swing on a swing. They will discover why magnets repel and attract. They will make a penny look shiny and new and build a steel band from pots and pans. Then, they will meet Hogarth - the Iron Man’s companion. The Iron Man wants a friend. Can they build him one? Mighty Metals is a science and technology based project, full of interactive activities and exciting challenges!

PE is on a TUESDAY so please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on that day.
Please could we remind you to send your child with a water bottle and their reading book/journal everyday.  They also need a coat for outdoor learning and for playtimes.
